School Wide Positive Behaviour Systems (SWPBS)
Essendon Keilor College has a commitment to using positive behaviour strategies with our students. Our SWPBS Matrix underpins all our behaviour expectations and students receive explicit teaching and learning opportunities about these behaviours, particularly as part of our middle years pastoral program. It is important to us that we positively acknowledge students who demonstrate these behaviours in our school community and the wider community. A combination of ‘REAL’ rewards and compass Positive Acknowledgements allow students to be recognised, as with weekly SWPBS winners at each campus.
We engage with our students not only within our school community but also strive to equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to meet expectations in the broader community. Our goal is to empower our students to make informed decisions, and our role is to create opportunities for learning that facilitate this development. Committed to fostering education on global citizenship, we emphasise the importance of making responsible choices both in the community and in the digital sphere, including the use of technology and social media platforms. When needed, we collaborate with external experts to supplement our curriculum and provide specialised instruction in technology.
